episode Pregnancy, Birth & Autonomy Part 2 cover

Beskrivelse

My wife and I continue our conversation about her births and pregnancies. In this episode we dig into the second and third experiences and explore the contrast and differences compared to the first one. We discuss the level of care received from our midwife, what birthing at home felt like, and why we would never go back to the "pregnancy is a thing to be treated" approach to bringing another human into this world. episode 6. Winter is Here cover

6. Winter is Here

With the turning of the season as the Solstice has passes us by, this seemed like a good time to talk about winter preparation. Some of us have had some cold weather this year, but the worst of it is yet to come. I walk through the basic lists of good items and gear to help stay alive and halfway comfortable during a winter outage. I also cover the kind of supplies I like to keep in my vehicle during the winter. The deeper humanity gets into centralized urban based systems, the more we lose our edge of awareness and sense of responsible preservation. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that the root of both responsibility and change rest within our hands. We do what we can when we can. Preparedness is planning for what will eventually happen. I hope everyone stays safe through the holidays and try to lend a hand if the opportunity arises. Thanks for listening and please share with your friends. This is a public episode. episode 5. Storm Clouds & Silver Linings cover

5. Storm Clouds & Silver Linings

In this episode, Steven March tells the tale of his motorcycle accident and long road of recovery. The attitude that Steven has held to throughout his recovery process is one I’ve long admired. There was always an unwillingness to quit or to just lay down and die and I wanted to try capturing some of that in this conversation. He’s been a good friend to many and I know I speak for us both when I say that there is a deep hope that someone out there is able to take this story and utilize pieces of it in their own. episode 4. Dissolution of the Institutions cover

4. Dissolution of the Institutions

I wanted to get all my thoughts out surrounding the news of the United Healthcare CEO and some of the things I’ve seen from the general public. My thoughts on how our culture has trended towards a low trust society and the consequences of that kind of fall. One correction: I said that interpersonal connection was the second level of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs but it is the third. The second level is safety, which comes primarily from a personal relationship with family (caregivers), but beyond that it seems to move into the third level. If you appreciated this episode please share it with your friends. I am hoping that a balanced and long term perspective takes hold in this strange times. This is a public episode.
