Beskrivelse

What happens when God calls us somewhere we never planned to go? In Acts 8 [https://www.bible.com/bible/1713/ACT.8.CSB], the early church is suddenly scattered by persecution after the death of Stephen. What looked like tragedy and disruption became the very thing God used to spread the gospel beyond Jerusalem. Through Philip’s obedience, we see how God often works most powerfully when we are stretched beyond our comfort zones. This message explores how God uses difficult circumstances, unexpected opportunities, and ordinary conversations to accomplish extraordinary purposes. From Samaria to the Ethiopian official on the Gaza road, Philip simply obeyed, opened his mouth, and trusted God to work. If you’ve ever felt uncertain, uncomfortable, or unqualified to share your faith, this sermon is a reminder that God doesn’t call us to have everything figured out — He calls us to trust Him and take the next step of obedience. episode 24 May 2026: From Persecutor to Champion (Going Public) cover

24 May 2026: From Persecutor to Champion (Going Public)

From persecutor to preacher. From enemy to ambassador. Acts 9 [https://www.bible.com/bible/59/ACT.9.ESV] records one of the most dramatic turnarounds in history as Saul — a man determined to destroy the church — encounters the risen Jesus on the road to Damascus. In this message, Pastor Mark walks through Saul’s conversion and the surprising ways God works through both Saul and Ananias to display the power of the gospel. This passage reminds us that no heart is too hard for God to change, no person is beyond His reach, and no plan is outside His ability to redirect. As the early church responds to Saul’s transformation, we also see a picture of what healthy gospel-centered community looks like: peace, encouragement, obedience, dependence on the Holy Spirit, and a shared mission to point people to Jesus Christ. episode 17 May 2026: Thankfulness cover

17 May 2026: Thankfulness

This week at CityView Church, we celebrated four years in our church building with a special service of thanksgiving, testimony, and celebration. Preaching from Psalm 105 [https://www.bible.com/bible/59/PSA.105.ESV], Pastor Mark shared how gratitude shapes the life of a believer and the identity of a church family: “Give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name, make known His deeds among the peoples.” As CityView reflects on God’s faithfulness through challenges, growth, new ministries, and changed lives, this message is both a celebration of what God has done and a reminder that He is not finished yet. This sermon explores: * Why thankfulness guards us from grumbling * What it means to “call upon the name of the Lord” * How gratitude naturally leads to evangelism and fellowship * Why CityView exists to look out to the community and look up toward eternity * How God uses ordinary people as a “gospel outpost” in their city Whether you’ve been part of CityView for years or are just discovering the church, this message is an invitation to remember God’s faithfulness and trust Him for what’s ahead. This recording includes Pastor Mark’s message, but does not include the individual testimonies shared during the service celebration. Some testimonies may be shared separately on social media in the future with permission from those who shared them. episode 3 May 2026: A Story Worth Living & Dying For (Going Public) cover

3 May 2026: A Story Worth Living & Dying For (Going Public)

In Acts 7, Stephen stands before his accusers and tells the sweeping story of God—from Abraham to Moses to Jesus. It’s a story of God’s faithfulness, humanity’s resistance, and ultimately, Christ as the fulfillment of it all. Stephen’s courage reminds us that following Jesus has never been about comfort or cultural approval. It’s about faithfulness to a story that is bigger than our lives. As we reflect on the grandeur of the gospel, we’re invited to consider what it means to live publicly for Jesus—and to trust Him no matter the cost. episode 26 Apr 2026: A God We Can Trust (Blake Dumais) cover

26 Apr 2026: A God We Can Trust (Blake Dumais)

What do you actually trust when life gets complicated? Guest preacher Blake Dumais walks through Proverbs 3:5–6 and challenges us to rethink how we make decisions. While many of us say we trust God, our instincts often lead us to rely on our own understanding first—and only turn to God when things fall apart. This message explores four key questions: * Who do we trust? * Why can we trust God? * How much should we trust Him? * What does it actually look like to trust Him daily? You’ll be encouraged to see that God is not only trustworthy because of His wisdom—but because of the gospel. If we can trust Him with our salvation, we can trust Him with every decision, fear, and uncertainty we face. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5 Speaker: Blake Dumais CityView is a church family that God is building to make disciples of Jesus Christ in the heart of Loudoun County and around the world.
