Episode 9 – We Went to Geek Girl Con!

I know, I know, we missed an episode number. Episode 8 was lost forever. We recorded an episode about reusable pads and menstrual cups (tentative title – Menstrual Rage.) It was a good episode, but we had some audio settings wrong and the resulting files were unusable. If the topic is of interest to you, drop us a line letting us know and maybe we’ll get motivated enough to recut it at some point! We’re really excited about this episode though, which *did* work out well, despite the challenges of recording on the road. We went to our favorite convention, Geek Girl Con, and Cadence interviewed lots of really interesting people. We have some great photos and bios of the people we talked to, and I’ll post them here on the site in short order and link to them so you can find their stuff! Episode 7 – Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails

In this episode, aside from learning that Cadence has started taking high school Spanish, we talk about dating and communication mishaps of all kinds. We talk about Cadence’s tendency to run headfirst into walls, all of her least favorite spices, ocean swimming and the calculus of teen rage.

This episode, after a long hiatus, we tackle the awkward subject of internet porn. We talk about Wonder Woman, 1337speak, and the shocking truth about teenage girls and their relationship with… porn. List of links forthcoming…

Episode 5 – Cadence Has a Plan

Content Warning: School Shootings and Gun Violence This was a tough episode. If talking to our kids is the hardest part of parenting, it doesn’t get harder than when we have to address all of the terrible things that happen in the world. This was a really good conversation though, and both Cadence and Gawen had a lot of insight to offer and tough questions to ask, and by the end of the episode, Cadence found her way to a new plan that brought a little hope back into her day. Episode 4 – Cadence invented Friendster

Social Media is a common point of contention between parents and teens, and we’re no exception. We talk about how we’ve approached this contentious topic, from what a parent’s role should be in helping our teens learn to use social media, some things teens should be aware of, and all the ways Cadence and I may or may not agree on the subject!
