Country Doctor: House Calls
In this episode of Country Doctor: Housecalls, I come back after a two week pause and talk about something we all run into sooner or later - change. Using the simple story from Who Moved My Cheese? as a jumping off point, I walk through why change can feel so threatening, even when it is ultimately good for us. We talk about the fear that shows up when the familiar disappears, why our brains treat uncertainty like danger, and how stress from transition can spill over into sleep, mood, motivation, and even physical symptoms. I also bring it down to real life. Changing jobs when the old routine feels safe but the situation is draining you. Changing towns when you are not just moving addresses but leaving a whole identity and community behind. I share the patterns I see over and over - denial, anger, freezing, and adaptation - and how to take small steps forward without pretending it is easy or forcing yourself to be fearless. And at the end, I keep it personal. I share a simple example of change from my own life - how even a small break in rhythm can start whispering fear and perfectionism, and how the answer is usually the same: show up anyway, be faithful, and move. If you are in a season where your “cheese” got moved, this one is for you.
