Facing racial discrimination and distrust, American Indians and African Americans were not allowed to fight in Civil War battles until the numbers of white soldiers killed or injured was large enough to start recruiting minorities.  Many minorities fought bravely, earning the respect of the white soldiers.  But when minorities were killed in battle, they faced discrimination again. It is somewhat ironic that green burial is becoming popular again, as it was the primary burial option in the U.S. before the Civil War.  If you live in San Diego County, you can have an environmentally friendly burial, but many of the funeral homes that claim they offer it really take your body out of the county if not out of state.  In this podcast, I give you information on what to look for, and where green burial is really available in San Diego.
