Consuming carrots isn't the best way to get the benefits of vitamin A. Learn more! 0:00 Introduction: Do carrots have a lot of vitamin A? 0:14 Pre-vitamin A vs. active vitamin A 1:32 Foods rich in vitamin A 2:07 Are carrots keto-friendly? 5:05 Learn more about fiber and insulin! Which has more vitamin A: 40 pounds of carrots or three ounces of beef liver? It turns out that beef liver is a better source of vitamin A. Carrots have a lot of pre-vitamin A, called beta-carotene. The active form of vitamin A is called retinol. Beta-carotene has to convert into retinol to become active, but the conversion rate isn’t very high. The best sources of beta-carotene are plant-based, and the best sources of retinol are animal-based. To get the vitamin A your body needs, it’s important to consume animal sources that have the active form of vitamin A, retinol. Foods high in vitamin A (retinol): • Beef liver • Cod liver and cod liver oil • Egg yolk • Butter Beta-carotene is a great nutrient, but you can’t get all of the vitamin A benefits you need from beta-carotene. So, what about carrots? Are carrots keto-friendly? Carrots are higher on the glycemic index, but they have a lot of fiber, making the sugar less of a problem. So, yes, you can have carrots on keto. But keep in mind that carrot juice doesn’t have very much fiber and shouldn’t be consumed on the keto diet. Today we’re going to talk about natural alternatives for dyspareunia. This condition can cause pain during intercourse, pelvic exams, and horse riding, or while inserting a tampon or sitting too long. My opinion is that this condition is typically caused by oxalates in the vaginal area. Oxalates can form crystals that can look like razor blades and are behind other conditions, as well, like kidney stones and gout. Thankfully, there are natural remedies for dyspareunia and certain foods that may be helpful. You may also want to avoid high-oxalate foods for a while to help determine if oxalates could be involved. High-oxalate foods to avoid if you have dyspareunia: • Spinach • Beets • Grains • Beans • Potatoes • Almonds • Peanuts • Kiwi • Wheat germ • Soy • Xylitol • Blackberries • Chocolate • Eggplant • Black pepper • Swiss chard • Rhubarb • Figs • Turmeric Try consuming dairy with any of the above foods to help reduce the effects of oxalates. Foods that are okay to consume if you have dyspareunia: • Meat • Fish • Seafood • Eggs • Dairy • Fats • Arugula • Cabbage • Avocado • Cauliflower • Lettuce • Saturated fats The best natural remedies for dyspareunia: 1. Vitamin B6 (P5P form) 2. Calcium citrate (before bed) 3. NAG (n-acetyl-glucosamine) 4. Are vitamins healthy? Learn the truth about vitamins. 0:00 Introduction: The truth about vitamins 0:10 Six things you don't know about vitamins 5:55 Check out my video on the most nutrient-dense foods! Today, I want to cover a few things you might not know about vitamin supplements. Vitamin supplements can be very beneficial as long as you understand a few things about them first. I believe natural whole food vitamins are much more beneficial than synthetic vitamins to support a healthy body. Certain synthetic vitamins can be okay in specific circumstances, like for a detox. But, I don't think they are good long-term solutions. When it comes to the supplements I create, I put a lot of focus and attention on the ingredients and even the source of the ingredients. Six surprising facts about vitamins: 1. Most mega vitamin companies are owned by Big Pharma, chemical companies, or food manufacturing companies 2. 95% of vitamins sold are made synthetically by chemical companies 3. China is the largest exporter of vitamin C and vitamin B1 4. The vitamin studies that show an increased risk for cancer use synthetics 5. Whole food concentrates are more complete and are more bioavailable despite having lower amounts of vitamins 6. Medical doctors only get about 25 hours, on average, of training on nutrition Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 57, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting.
