'The New Man in Charge' & Podcast Wrap-Up

The final season of LOST on DVD and Blu-Ray was released on August 24, 2010, and with it came a nearly 12 minute epilogue to answer a few remaining burning questions. Kevin and Ben take one final trip down memory lane to explore this epilogue which includes the Hydra Station orientation video, an answer about the polar bears, and the fate of Walt. 'The End'

On Sunday, May 23rd, 2010, one of the best television shows of all time came to its conclusion. One the penultimate episode of From Broadcast Depth, Kevin and Ben cover the series finale of LOST. They discuss the nature of the flash sideways and its connection to the overall themes of the show, set the record straight on fan complaints, discuss the interpretation of the shows final image, and give their overall thoughts on Season 6 as a whole. Ben also reminisces on the finale party he threw and how ABC made it an all day event. There is only one more episode of the podcast to do, but today, we put a bow on coverage of episodes.

'Across The Sea' & 'What They Died For'

With only four hours of LOST to go, the writers decided to provide an info dump fans had long awaited - and it turned out to be one of the most polarizing episodes in the shows history. Ben and Kevin discuss the answers given, the answers NOT given, what caused the polarization, some insight from the DVD commentary, and the casting of Allison Janney as Mother. Then they cover the penultimate episode of the series, settling an old score and setting the table for the grand series finale!

'The Last Recruit' & 'The Candidate'

Fate further intertwines our Oceanic 815 crew in the flash sideways, but the most memorable moments this week take place on the Island. Specifically, the iconic "bloodbath" that dwindles the number of our survivors down and forces us to say farewell to several main cast members (and not without some viewer backlash.) Ben and Kevin provide their own thoughts on that backlash and everything else going on as the end of the show draws close.

'Happily Ever After' & 'Everybody Loves Hugo'

Unwillingly brought to the Island, Desmond is forced to be hit with yet another electromagnetic blast and his mind travels into our flash sideways where we see how his life with Widmore, Penny, Eloise, and others is very different than it is in the main timeleine. Speaking of different, we get a look into Hurley's life as an entrepreneur and philanthropist who has no memory of Libby, although she certainly has memories of him, and the return of Michael. The death of a character leads to criticism from Ben, a puzzling group split brings criticism from both hosts, and the answer of what the whispers are lead to a discussion on the pay off and if it was worthwhile.
