Stop regulating yourself into smallness

Some powerful, high achieving people often regulate themselves into smallness, simply because their nervous system doesn’t feel safe holding the power. I took two weeks off and removed one of my biggest regulators. What came up for me wasn’t weakness. It was power. Here’s the pattern: when you’re about to outgrow your current reality, your nervous system looks for something to bring you back down. Food. Scrolling. Overworking. Drama. Over-explaining. Every time you regulate yourself down, you reinforce the identity of someone who is 'almost ready.'  Almost ready for more visibility. More money. Bigger rooms. But 'almost' is just self-suppression with an approachable smiley face. Full Volume isn’t about being loud. It’s about refusing to regulate yourself into smallness. The one thing young people and entrepreneurs have in common

I’ve worked with 4,500 young people and now I work with successful entrepreneurs. And I’ve noticed they have the same trait: they experiment. Young people try on different identities without overthinking. Successful entrepreneurs do the exact same thing. But so many people have stopped experimenting. So what happened between being young and starting a business that killed this trait? Here’s the truth: you can’t just do inner work without taking action. And you can’t just take action without shifting your identity. You need BOTH at the same time. That’s the experiment. When was the last time YOU experimented? It's been a week since I got back from Des Dobreva's business retreat where I knew I was going to work on all things business.  What I got was a huge realisation: about my children, and how they relate to my business. I realised that I don’t ask my children for enough help. I overcompensate. I refuse support. If you’re refusing help, overcompensating, trying to do it all yourself - that pattern is everywhere. So where are YOU leaking authority? In your relationships? Your boundaries? Your capacity? Find the leak. Ask for help. Stop overcompensating. Power isn’t just about what you do.
