episode #127- The To-Don't List: Summer of Sabbath- Revisited cover

Beskrivelse

My Grammy always had a list. Honestly, so do I. This week on Glordinary [https://www.glordinary.com/podcast], we’ll chat about To-Do lists, dough, manna, Sabbath, and how we keep collecting "just one more thing" to do. The problem is, the list never really ends. And giving up a whole day to Sabbath seems unrealistic with that To-Do list staring back at us. But what if Sabbath isn't about what you can't do? What if it's about what you don't have to do? Join me as we revisit Exodus 16, reflect on a gift from my Grammy, and discover that Sabbath was never meant to be another item on the list. Sabbath is a gift from the Gift-Giver Himself. Maybe it's time to loosen our grip on the list, trust God's provision, and make a To-Don't list instead. www.glordinary.com [https://www.glordinary.com/podcast] Here’s a small excerpt: "We use Sabbath as a prep day because getting ahead feels safer than trust. Ouch. Safer than trusting there will be enough tomorrow. Enough time. Enough energy. Enough money. Enough supply. Because the list isn't really the problem. The fear underneath the list is." REPLAY #16- Bread & Beginnings: A Sabbath Starting Place

A Summer of Sabbath Replay Episode! Enjoy, my Friend! I love a good origin story. There’s just something about beginnings, right? Sabbath might be one of the greatest origin stories of all time. Woven into the fabric of creation itself, it doesn’t get much more “beginning” than that. Yet, I found when it came to practicing Sabbath, I really didn’t have a good starting place. You too? Let’s change that. Join me as we chat through my Sabbath origin story and Mark 2:27. Together, we’ll start our “Summer of Sabbath” by stopping, resting, delighting, and worshiping. www.glordinary.com [http://www.glordinary.com] Here’s a small excerpt: "Because it’s not about what you can’t do. It’s about what you don’t have to do. And that sounds pretty perfect.”

episode #126- Sunburned Souls & Unforced Rhythms: Summer of Sabbath: Revisited cover

#126- Sunburned Souls & Unforced Rhythms: Summer of Sabbath: Revisited

Two years ago, way back on Episode #15, we talked about shoulder seasons and all the things we carry. This summer, we're revisiting Sabbath with a different question: What if the issue isn't what we're shouldering? What if it's the pace of what we're shouldering? After returning from vacation with sunburned shoulders and a few fresh reminders about hurry, I'm reflecting on how easily rush becomes our default—and how differently Jesus seems to move through the world. In Matthew 11, Jesus invites us to walk with Him, work with Him, and watch how He does it. To learn what Eugene Peterson calls "the unforced rhythms of grace." So if life has felt a little tender lately... If everything feels just a little harder than it should... Episode #126 is for you. www.glordinary.com [https://www.glordinary.com/podcast] Here’s a small excerpt: "And maybe that's true of more than just sunburned shoulders. Maybe our souls get a little sunburned too. Because sometimes life leaves us a little tender. Not necessarily unable to function. Just stretched. Worn thin. A little more sensitive than usual. A little more burned. A little more reactive than we'd like to admit." REPLAY #15- The Shoulder Season: Swapping Our Should's for Sabbath

A Summer of Sabbath Replay Episode! Enjoy, my Friend! How are you feeling today? Tired, worn, burned out? I'm guessing your response, like mine, probably wouldn't be "well-rested." Life is fast and furious! It's why we crave down-time, vacation, and a chance to unplug. Not only are we wired for respite, our bodies (and souls) actually require it. Join me as we chat through Matthew 11:28-30. We'll talk about all things R & R for the soul as we kick off our Summer of Sabbath series... again. www.glordinary.com [https://www.glordinary.com/podcast] Here's a small excerpt: "It's why this summer, I'm dubbing it "Summer of Sabbath," a chance to stop, breathe, and re-create as we recreate. We'll spend our conversations chatting about not just what it means to follow a God who created rest and play...because only a very good God would ask me, and ask you, to rest, renew, and re-create as we recreate."

episode #125- Summer of Sabbath-Revisited: A Fresh Set of Eyes cover

#125- Summer of Sabbath-Revisited: A Fresh Set of Eyes

Two years ago, we started a tradition here on Glordinary…and apparently, we still need it. In this kickoff episode for Summer of Sabbath: Revisited, we’re slowing down with fresh eyes to revisit what God was teaching us then—and what He may still be teaching us now. From beach days and bonfires to burnout and winter-in-the-soul weariness, we’re talking honestly about how quickly life pulls us back into hurry, noise, and exhaustion. Using a tucked-away story from Numbers 10, we’ll chat about what it means to let someone “be our eyes” on the journey and why revisiting old truths can hit differently after a little more life lived. So whether this summer finds you joyful, grieving, hopeful, tired, or somewhere in-between, consider this your invitation to slow down. To savor. To see. www.glordinary.com [https://www.glordinary.com/podcast] Here’s a small excerpt: "So each week this summer, we’ll replay an original Summer of Sabbath episode and pair it with a brand-new companion conversation—a fresh set of “Hobab eyes” looking back on what God was showing us then…and what He may be showing us now."
