Beskrivelse

(3:34) Question of the Day:  Have you ever been in a play? (7:33) “Okay, Wow” Challenge (12:58) Off Topic Topic: Abram Ebersohn - Area Update (20:09) Discussion & Member Questions: Let’s recap what we covered on Sunday just to remind everyone what it was about 1. (25:49) How challenging was this topic to tackle with there being so many nuances and various contexts people are listening from? 2. (31:00) We are really enjoying y’alls church. We’re moving here from Texas. I would like to have clarification. When you talked about people born eunuchs, you said it could mean people born with same sex attraction. Does that mean you think people are born gay? 3. (35:15) My question is, since Jesus’ answer to the pharisees in Matt. 5:31-32 was not an exhaustive list, but only one example, then how do we know that there aren’t more than the three exceptions to remarriage (porneia, abandonment, and death) given on Sunday? 4. (40:22) Could we spend a little more time talking about abuse with this idea of divorce? 5. (45:02) What level of sexual immorality is valid for divorce? Are there levels? 6. (48:38) Closing Thoughts - All About the Heart (43:55) Celebration: Sent couple seeing 3 men saved and baptized!

Episode 61 | Kevin Stories, Aliens, Pharisees, Domesticating God, and Legalism

(4:30) Question of the Day: What Kevin stories do you have now that he isn’t here? (10:04) Off Topic Topic: How should we as Christians process and understand the chatter online about aliens, UFOs, extraterrestrial life forms?  (19:24) Discussion & Member Questions: Let’s recap what we covered on Sunday just to remind everyone what it was about 1. (22:35) Jesus was so harsh toward the Pharisees and even called them “vipers”. Why was He so harsh toward them specifically? 2. (25:21) Why did the Pharisees have such a need to know the greatest and the least commandment? And why do we naturally create hierarchies of rules and sins? 3. (30:21) How can someone tell the difference between a preference and a conviction and a biblical command? 4. (41:29) What are some examples of legalism we may be subtly believing? 5. (44:44) In what ways do we domesticate God? 6. (46:51) So how do we live out the tension where there are rules, and then also we are supposed to live in the grace and freedom God gives us? (52:08) Celebration: Parent Child Dedication

Episode 60 | See You Soon Kevin, Being Ticklish, Encountering God, Gambling, The Beatitudes, and Being Salt & Light

(1:51) Question of the Day:  In honor of May 4th, what is your favorite star wars character? (3:45) Are you ticklish? (7:00) Off Topic Topic: What does it really mean to “encounter God” (18:37) Discussion & Member Questions: Let’s recap what we covered on Sunday just to remind everyone what it was about 1. (22:17) Why do we call it the Beattitudes? 2. (24:48) Matthew 5:7 says, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall be shown mercy” which sounds much like Jesus also saying if you do not forgive others, then your father will not forgive you. Sometimes we say that the one that has been truly forgiven will always forgive others. But this sounds more like if we don’t forgive then we will no longer be forgiven. How do we understand this idea with the gospel being unconditional grade? If I’m a believer but refuse to show mercy then what happens? 3. (32:48) Could Kevin speak more on how gambling is hurting young men such as he talked about this weekend? It’s something that so many believers even do and people may know it’s something the Bible is against but understand why it’s bad may be less intuitive. 4. (39:01) I have seen “Blessed are those who are persecuted” taken out of context by Christians who call other fellow Christians hypocrites and tell non-Christians they need to repent or they’ll go to hell. The pushback they receive from others they perceive as their persecution for proclaiming the Gospel. That being said, what could being persecuted look like for a Christian living in the United States, which has more freedoms than other countries? 5. (46:48) You mentioned the 1 John verse about the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. How does discipleship and community actually help someone fight those things, especially if they’re stuck in something like sexual sin, while still trying to live as salt and light? (51:15) Celebration: SALT End of Semester
