L&J // This week Lulu and Jana are having an open and fluid conversation about some topics that have been coming up for them lately. They chat about mental and physical health in regards to trauma and emotions, modern day relationship expectations, habits, the importance of taking care of the nervous system, and how trauma is stored in the body. L&J both consider themselves to be highly sensitive people which is something that neither of them used to identify with, but as they've gotten older and watched themselves experience their triggers and work through their trauma they have both realized that they do have strong emotions and hyper vigilant nervous systems which both need to be protected and prioritized in their day to day lives as well as in relationship. L&J discuss why the "burnout" culture and people  believing that everything needs to be comfortable is actually creating a lot of self entitlement and laziness because goals, growth and hard work are actually often really uncomfortable situations and that isn't necessarily a bad thing. L&J are also reviewing the book Atomic Habits by James Clear, which opened their eyes to a lot of ways they could be doing things differently in their lives. But when her second child is born, events occur that bring that secret to the fore, and with it, a crushing, powerful battle to survive. The story follows Julie's struggle with postpartum depression and with it a suicide attempt, Julies husband and the people in her life attempt to help her but quickly realize that they can't relate to what Julie is going through because they are not living her experience. Postpartum depression is a topic that few want to tackle and bring up, it is an infinitely complex, and can present itself out of nowhere in many women. It's not an easy story but it's an important and heartbreakingly beautiful novel and film.
