This week’s Nonprofit Spotlight shines on Yolanda Sethi, Board Member of The Homing Project, a local nonprofit dedicated to housing the homeless with dignity and respect. Their mission is “to provide immediate residence and onsite or referral services to those who are unhoused in order to bridge the current economic and social gaps separating them from safe and dignified living.” More information can be found on their website. This week’s Nonprofit Spotlight shines on Arianna Jimenez from The Lot on 22nd. The Lot on 22nd is a nonprofit, unaffiliated group with the small and immediate goal of providing some basic necessities and food. The project is simple, and succeeds with the generosity and care of volunteers. Twice a week, every Thursday and Sunday from 5-7, The Lot on 22nd sets up on an empty lot between Swan and Columbus on 22nd Street and shares a meal. In addition, they pass out socks, hygiene products, coats, pants, shirts and other donated items to meet the most basic human comforts.

In this episode of Nonprofit Spotlight, Stephanie sits down with Tiffany Tom, Planning Coordinator and Board Member of Climbing in Color (CIC). CIC is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in Tucson, Arizona, with a national following. Our mission is to elevate the voices of BIPOC climbers, build a community of camaraderie and support, and introduce more BIPOC folks to climbing.

This week’s Nonprofit Spotlight shines on Hannah Woelke, Executive Director of Desert Survivors. Their vision is to create an inclusive sanctuary where the community can learn to live in harmony with our fragile bioregion. Desert Survivors is dedicated to providing adults with disabilities the opportunity to develop occupational skills, gain work experience, and advocate for their own employment goals. This is accomplished through their native plant nursery and commercial landscaping services, where they embrace and protect the ecology of our desert home.
