Bardaje is coming to Vancouver as part of the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival 2026 and the Encuentro program, presented in collaboration with Latincouver. In this interview, Zapotec performer and anthropologist Lukas Avendaño reflects on Bardaje, a ritual performance rooted in muxheidad, a third gender identity from Zapotec culture that predates colonization.
