Let's Grow Old Together - Trailer

EPISODE NOTES Hi, I’m Roo Khan. I’m a middle aged trans punk, and I am going to talk to people about growing old. Did you think when you were younger that you would grow old? Because I didn’t. For so many reasons, I had a hard time thinking about even reaching adulthood, and I know I’m not alone in that. I have seen this in my friends, older and younger. How we talk about it changes, and the reasons change, but I see a pattern that I want to explore. What does it do to those of us that kept living when we didn’t have a plan for that? To survivors who never thought they were meant to survive?  What would be different in our communities if we believed we would grow old? How might we relate to each other? To our past or our future? To the world around us? I think that believing that we can grow old is a political tactic, it is a strategy in the struggle to fight for the future we want to see; to push against apathy, nihilism, and giving up; to commit to being in the fight for the long haul. I want us to imagine beautiful futures for ourselves and live to see them. Let’s Grow Old, Together.
