Listen to the Land: Stories and conversations about home and the land in the rural Southeast
Hayden Norman interviews Ross Kendrick, a peanut farmer from Turner County in South Georgia. Kendrick is a fifth generation farmer, and a leaders in the peanut commission and the farm bureau. He knows he not only has to cultivate peanuts and cotton, but that he also has to cultivate good relations with lawmakers in Congress, who determine the details of the farm bill. One of Georgia's senators recently spent some time with Kendrick, and Kendrick talks about how he worked to develop a relationship between farmer and lawmaker. Norman is a politics and government student at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
