I Don't Know How to Feel and That’s Ok!
Embracing the Fluff
In 2010 when Jennifer was finally getting treatment for her postpartum anxiety and feeling much better, she truly didn’t care about any side effects, including weight gain...in fact she remembers saying, I don’t care if I gain 500 pounds, these intrusive thoughts need to stop. She started to feel better, back to normal, and would look in the mirror and be so upset with what she saw looking back.
A New Diagnosis, New Meds, and A New “Normal”
In 2010 when Jennifer was diagnosed and medicated for her anxiety, she stayed on her meds for about a year. She was stable until about 2013 when her anxiety started up again and got progressively worse and then came the panic attacks- first it was once every 6 months and then every month and then every week. Eventually they happened every day.
Jennifer’s Story: Pregnancy and Postpartum Anxiety
Jennifer's pregnancy started out amazing, but after a diagnosis of placenta previa it became more complicated and she became consumed with anxiety. What followed was a traumatic birth and 6 months of suffering in silence with a mood disorder that almost took her life. 10 years later and now with a bipolar 2 diagnosis, Jennifer is back in the maternal mental health world encouraging mothers to seek out the treatment they need and give them the hope to know they will get better.
