With Justin away, a recovering Michael returns to the house and finds Emily unconscious beneath a particularly robust cedar tree in the backyard— the spot of the past horror. He revives her, but the action triggers a fatal attack from the unseen force brooding below. In his weakened state, Michael takes a deadly blow. Refusing Emily's urgent plea to get him medical help, Michael uses his final moments to deliver his last warning.
