Mighty Oaks Daily Devotional
Psalm 115 challenges us to examine where our worship is truly directed. The psalmist declares, “Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory,” reminding us that God alone deserves our highest devotion. He then contrasts the living God with the lifeless idols crafted by human hands—objects that have eyes but cannot see, ears but cannot hear, and mouths but cannot speak. While we may not bow before carved statues today, anything that captures our hearts more than God can become an idol. Success, possessions, careers, relationships, hobbies, or even ministry itself can quietly take His rightful place. The problem with idols is that they can never satisfy or give true life. Only the living God can do that. Take time to honestly evaluate your priorities. Are you giving God first place, or has something else become the focus of your affection and trust? True life is found only in worshiping the One who created you and deserves all the glory.
