Mixenden Board School Mixenden Board School was built in 1877 and transferred to Ovenden school board to Halifax in 1892. In 2005 it merged with Ash Green School, becoming Ash Green Upper School. Annual Gala

Annual Mixenden Gala From the 1960s an annual gala took place in Mixenden. It was a grand street carnival bringing the community together, with floats, games, a Gala Queen and a street band competition. Slaughter Gap

Slaughter Gap In 1644, after a battle at Heptonstall, Captain Farrar led a small group of parliamentarians pursuing a group of fleeing Royalists. Cut off from the main force, they were intercepted and captured. Fold Farm

Fold Farm Mixenden Hall, The Fold or Fold Farm is one of the oldest houses in Ovenden, known from the 12th century. Home of the Illingworth family for nearly 300 years. A farm, a hall and an fulling mill. Bowling Club

Mixenden Bowling Club Mixenden Bowling Club was built behind the flats and played a central part of Yorkshire bowling, hosting championships for able bodied and disabled clubs.
