10 episoderHappy to be back after a long hiatus, we are discussing the emotional and logistical challenges we are facing after making a serious lifestyle adjustment in the past year. Two things crystalized for me during this discussion: * It is incredibly difficult to feel comfortable or entitled to provide input in an area in which you are not actively contributing. While any glimpse into the dregs of the social media world might indicate otherwise, I think for most of us, in our personal lives, when we divvy up responsibility we often also relinquish ownership. For me, going from an equal contributor to our household income to no income has been a challenge in terms of trying to remain an engaged partner in our finances. * It is not always a clear and linear path to the goal line. While some financial goals are fairly straight forward (e.g. I want to purchase a new bike, so I will save $X per month until I have saved enough to buy it), many are more complex. In retrospect, our goal to tackle all our outstanding debt 5 years ago enabled us to make our big move this past year. All we knew was that reducing our debt reduced our fixed expenses which would increase our financial freedom. We didn’t know it would set us up to be able to give up my income and relocate our family. Getting your financial house in order is always a good idea. It will open possibilities down the road that you might not even see yet. Thanks for tuning in, -Sarah
Our original 1st episode Starting this podcast was a fun idea Sarah and I came up with - we are finally releasing this one now that we have made some lifestyle changes. While in the financial industry, we found there was a conflict of interest with our topics and the services offered within the organization Sarah used to be affiliated with. With respect to the organization, and loyalty to the people who helped get us where we are today - we pulled this episode. The conflict of interest no longer exists, so we are free to release this episode to the public. Please enjoy this 1st recording as we work to get our feet back under us, and bring you more content in the future. Stay Tuned!!! www.moneybooksandlunch.com Join us as we discuss what Financial Advisors do, and why you would pay someone to play with your money for you.
What’s the likely hood I’m going to be rich? … pretty low… What does rich even mean? …well, it’s subjective… Look at Mark Zuckerberg, he dresses simplistically, and is frugal. SURPRISE, those shirts are really expensive from the point of view of someone who is not a billionaire CEO. Warren Buffet eats at Dairy Queen? MBL IS BACK!!! - SARAH AND ELLIOT ARE EXCITED TO BE BACK AT IT. I HOPE YOU ARE READY FOR A FUN YEAR - WE HAVE LOTS HIDING IN OUR LUNCH BOX THAT WE’RE EXCITED TO SHARE WITH YOU. Is there a relationship between financial stability and physical health? Some studies suggest there is. Sarah & Elliot tackle some of the common health insurance terms, and look at a few common areas your money can be saved when it comes to saving money on your well being. Also, Elliot discusses his recent trip to the ER. Sarah was right - start at the bottom, and work your way up. Humble as he is, and avoiding the credit, we all know Copper City would never have happened without him to kick this off, and follow it through. I agree, there are many players that helped keep this project alive, and as a mountain bike rider I thank you wholeheartedly. Sit back, and enjoy this episode as we discuss the bureaucracy that is trail building.
