I share ways to make sure the hero takes the center stage and isn’t mistaken for the sidekick.  Composition techniques that make sure that your hero is not in a spot it shouldn’t be in, and lighting concepts that you may not be aware of. Simple but powerful principles that can make the hero stand tall, get the spotlight, and command attention, as your photo deserves. Keeping basic, key principles in mind and being aware of how they’re playing out in your photo can make sure your hero is always the star. You’ll have the viewer hooked, create a strong visual story, the photo will look cohesive and intentional, and your photography will be at an advanced level. Your photo will make an impact. It will not only be a work of beauty for other creatives to get inspired by but also catch the attention of brands, who will immediately be able to visualise how you’ll work with their products.  But when the miss is embedded in composition or the subtleties of lighting, it goes unseen by most creators and leaves them wondering. It is the finishing touch to our creativity and to that raw photo. And if that end product does not blow the viewer’s minds, it’s a red alert - a gap we may not see, but clients most definitely will, which will begin to show up as fewer clients, clients not returning, confusion, and second-guessing ourselves. Editing isn’t just about creating a magnificent photo. If we don’t send our rates, but request more information and then the client ghosts us, we blame ourselves for sabotaging the opportunity.  If we send our rates and the conversation moves further, we think it’s sheer luck.  We are forever living in this debate between yes and no, sending or not sending, overcharging or undercharging.. Ughhh! The loop of doubt and insecurity continues. The truth is that this loop exists because we are missing an essential part of the business - boundaries. Boundaries and rules for the way we do things. In fancy words, a sales process. As we continue our mindblowing series with Candice Ward, a food photographer with a background in corporate sales, she talks about the absolute necessity of having a sales process in place. She shares the essential steps in a sales process, transitioning from pitching to closing the deals, the best way to handle objections, using a sales process to position yourself as a premium service.. and so much more.  Having a sales process in place gives us the highest level of clarity, and when we have clarity, the client has clarity. .. because it comes through in everything we do and say.
