episode Terror from Rural Georgia: The Legacy of The School of the Americas cover

Beskrivelse

In the US, terrorism means one thing post-9/11. In Latin America, it has meant something else. In this episode, we explore the US history of exporting terrorism by way of the School of The Americas which has trained right-wing para-militaries in the art of war for over 50 years. We hear from School of the Americas Watch's national organizer Hendrik Voss as well as two women whose lives have been effected by the terrible catch-22 imposed upon Latin American civilians by their neighbor to the North.

Flint: Coping with the Crisis

People's World made a trip to Michigan where reporters Patrick J. Foote and Earchiel Johnson discovered the different ways Flint residents are moving forward. From demanding Governor Rick Snyder's arrest to bring the community together for relief, the citizens of Flint are nothing if not resilient. Here are other works from our trip to Flint that elaborate on the subjects we touch: First Trinity Baptist becomes an oasis... http://peoplesworld.org/first-trinity-baptist-becomes-an-oasis-during-flint-water-crisis/ Flint water protest at State of the State: http://peoplesworld.org/flint-water-protest-at-state-of-state-brands-snyder-a-criminal/ Video of First Trinity Baptist's water station: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q86C1CdLDaU&feature=youtu.be Be sure to subscribe to the People's World Podcast on iTunes and Stitcher, as well as to follow our Instagram and Twitter for live dispatches from Flint.
