SUBSCRIBE to the Podcast Editing Plus newsletter/podcast: https://podcasteditingplus.substack.com/ [https://podcasteditingplus.substack.com/] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On the following Mondays we're going to be talking about our current podcast editing projects. Specifically, what we worked on the week before the chat. December dates: December 6th & 20th: Time: 1pm New York, 6pm London, 11:30pm New Delhi This event was inspired by Austin Kleon's book "Show Your Work", where he encourages people to to hold Show Your Work Events. DETAILS: The point of these chats is to show our works in progress, tell our editing stories, and share our curiosities. The focus is on our podcast editing process, not product. Starting questions: (We very well may deviate.) -What did you work on this week? -How's it going? -What's the biggest challenge? -Are there any breakthrough moments? -What have you learned this week? I’m focused on having as many of these conversations as possible, not in having the audio quality be perfect. Thus, I’m going with a workflow that is minimal but effective. If this annoys your editor ears, I get it, but you might want to skip listening. Thanks! -Record on Streamyard on one track while streaming to YouTube -Lightly content edit the video, export as MP4 and WAV -Lightly sound clean up the WAV in Hindenburg (voice profiler, compressor, noise reductions and check the overall level), export as MP3 YouTube Version: Subscribe at podcasteditingplus.substack.com [https://podcasteditingplus.substack.com?utm_medium=podcast]

This episode is available as a podcast episode on Substack AND as a video on YouTube. Just search for "Podcast Editing Plus." THIS EPISODE: We’re wrapping up the casual podcast editing chats this month with this lovely international conversation. Bekah, Jeni and Angry Ducky share the technical, client and collaboration pains that they’ve gone through recently. At one point Bekah joked that it felt like a therapy session (in a good way) and she’s not wrong. We cleared the air so you don’t have to! I then content edited the video and exported as MP4. I then put the audio into Hindenburg and used their auto leveler, voice profiler, etc and exported as MP3. I’m experimenting with different video to audio workflows this month and think that handling the video first THEN sweetening the audio seems to be the most streamlined and logical. This episode is available as a podcast episode on Substack AND as a video on YouTube. Just search for "Podcast Editing Plus." THIS EPISODE: Dave Visaya lives and podcast edits from the Philippines. Now his production company, Podcast Engineers, handles 100+ podcasts but when he first started there were some potential clients who wanted to talk him down to a super low rate probably based on of his location. And this brings up an interesting question: How much of our rates should be/can be/are based on where we live? And more so, if that fair? Special thanks to Dave for being so open about this sticky money topic and to the Podcast Editors Academy [https://www.podcasteditoracademy.com?aff=stephfuccio], where I met Dave. This episode is available as a podcast episode on Substack AND as a video on YouTube. Just search for "Podcast Editing Plus." THIS EPISODE: We need to play with our editing tools more than we do. Mistakes are good. Here’s how I figured out how to do the video effect I used in yesterday’s video in Reaper. Yes, there’s a lot of visual DAW play in this episode. It might not translate well as a podcast. This might be a ploy to get you to subscribe to our YouTube channel. I can’t say, wah ha ha. MIC NOTE: I recorded the audio on my phone. It’s day 28 of 30 days of podcasts in a row. I make zero apologies. YOUTUBE VERSION of this episode: It takes a couple of hours to upload for some reason. This episode is available as a podcast episode on Substack AND as a video on YouTube. Just search for "Podcast Editing Plus." THIS EPISODE: I’m answering a question that cirlces us back to the “who is my Podcast Editing Plus audience” conundrum from episode 5 [https://podcasteditingplus.substack.com/p/day-5-napodpomo-is-it-okay-to-have] this month’s NaPodPoMo episodes. Thanks to Joel [https://twitter.com/JoelGMcKinnon]for the great question that makes me address this topic once and for all with clarity and decisiveness. Bet he wasn’t expecting a video answer, right? lol. I used Reaper’s peephole wipe/vignette FX to make this happen. I started by watching this awesome Reaper tutorial [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TlxqsAhstM&t=352s] and then started to play with the options and found this peephole option. LOVE IT!
