This time last week we were in a major flood situation on the East Coast of Australia. And it managed to get worse as the week progressed. The major water supply for Sydney, Warragamba Dam had to release water as it was completely full for the first time in years. So they released the equivalent of the volume of Sydney Harbour (450 Gigalitres) each day resulting in catastrophic flooding downstream. This week the cleanup begins in earnest and the true scope of the damage is assessed. The Easter weekend looks like being a bit wet under foot. But enough of our woes. It's amazing what a mere 12 months can change. In March of 2020 the East Coast of Australia was recovering from some of the worst bush fires that we have ever experienced and COVID-19 was just a scary thing that, according to Trump, would disappear by Easter. Well March 2021 sees severe rain events along the East Coast with one area receiving over 300mm in 12 hours and a rail line washed away causing a derailment. the World death toll from COVID-19 has reached 2.64 million and is still rising. But at least the vaccine is being rolled out. Not to bum you out completely the good news is that artists are still making and releasing great Progressive Rock music. Since before Christmas the Mid North Coast of New South Wales on the East Coast of Australia has been experiencing the joys of a "La Nina" event where the rainfall is typically above average. Well, above average is a bit of an understatement at the moment as most of this area is in the middle of a fairly serious flood. We have road closures, land slips, flooded shops and houses as well as streets and parks under water. This certainly is a country of "droughts and flooding rains". But to keep our spirits afloat let's all enjoy some great Progressive Rock Music.
