episode Joan McCarthy: Amongst My Own People cover

Joan McCarthy: Amongst My Own People

For our final episode of the season, we have a chin wag with Joan McCarthy. This was a joy of an episode to do. Joan is a proud Kerry woman, but has lived in Cork for most of her life. She was part of the Cork Women’s Collective and the UCC women’s group. She was also involved in the development of the Quay Co-Op in Cork City. She is an author, activist, and educator in healthcare. Joan was also a rockstar and theatre performer. She also co-founded and co-chaired, with Cathal Kerrigan, the UCC LGBT staff network, the first LGBT university staff network in Ireland. And, if that isn't enough, she co-edited the first collection of feminist authors writing on nursing ethics (Nursing Ethics: Feminist Perspectives, Springer: 2020). What a human! Enjoy.
