Beskrivelse

Read along as Matthew guides us through the Gospel of Luke. In these verses, Jesus tells the Parable of the Shrewd Manager and teaches about money, Moses and the prophets,  and our ultimate hope -- God's redeeming grace. In a world where sin is very real, Jesus is asking his followers to be people of forgiveness, trusting in Christ's redeeming grace. And we respond like the disciples, "Increase our faith!" episode Luke 14:15-15:32 cover

Luke 14:15-15:32

Read along as Matthew guides us through the Gospel of Luke. In these verses, Jesus encounters a challenge from Pharisees about his table fellowship practices that include sinners and tax collectors. Why does Jesus choose to associate with "those people"? Jesus tells the Parable of the Lost Sheep to explain, as well as the Parable of the Lost Coin. God, Jesus explains, is seeking and saving the lost. God wants to find and rescue and redeem all of God's beloved children. Finally, Jesus tells the profound Parable of Two Lost Sons (also known as the Parable of the Prodigal Son). We're left wondering how a story like that concludes--does forgiveness and reconciliation between these sons? episode Luke 12:32-13:17 cover

Luke 12:32-13:17

Read along as Matthew guides us through the Gospel of Luke. In these verses, Jesus continues to teach us not to worry, to trust in Him and seek the Kingdom. He also teaches about apocalyptic time and the current time of "now" (i.e. his life, death and resurrection), and given the time, he invites repentance and encourages new growth. It's not too late to change your ways, to be transformed by the redeeming love of Jesus. He tells a parable about a fruitless fig tree to prove his point. Next, he heals a crippled woman and uses the opportunity to explain the unbinding, liberating ways of the Kingdom.  Matthew Schmidt is the Pastor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ located in the beautiful small town of Grand Haven, MI.
