Restore Your Heart
Let me know what you think! [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2560116/fan_mail/new] Do you say, If I forgive, I am saying it didn’t matter. Or my anger is justified, so I can hold onto it. Do you replay the hurt in your mind over and over? Today, I will share three steps about how God can help you learn to forgive. Step 1: What forgiveness is. God commands us to forgive, “Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Col. 3:13 Then why is it so hard to do? Choosing to forgive is to trust God with the outcome. Forgiveness is a choice; it’s a decision, a crisis of the will. Jesus reminds us to “Be merciful, just as your Heavenly Father is merciful.” (Luke 6:36 NIV) Step 2: What forgiveness is not. Forgiveness is not excusing harm. Forgiveness is not forgetting instantly. Forgiveness is not trusting immediately. “We must forgive, so that no advantage is taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes.” (2 Corinthians 2:10, 11 NIV) Not forgiving those who have wronged us gives Satan more ammunition to war against us. Step 3: Learn to forgive. Jesus’s crucifixion wounds belonged to us; He was punished in our place to satisfy God’s requirement. His sacrifice provided for our righteousness. “Christ had no sin, but God made him become sin so that in Christ we could become right with God” (2 Corinthians 5:21 NCV). “God forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases” Psalm 107:3 “God, the Father made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 Forgiveness is not forgetting. “God remembers our sins no more.” Psalms 103:12 “Love…keeps no record of wrongs.” I Corinthians 13:5 I forgive someone who doesn’t deserve it? “Lord, I will forgive (the person’s name) for making me feel __________. Lord Jesus I choose not to hold onto my resentment. Bless them.” Step 1: What forgiveness is. God commands us to forgive, “Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Col. 3:13 Step 2: What forgiveness is not. Forgiveness is not excusing harm. “We must forgive, so that no advantage is taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes.” (2 Corinthians 2:10, 11 NIV) Step 3: Learn to forgive: Forgiveness is not a feeling—it is a release. “Christ had no sin, but God made him become sin so that in Christ we could become right with God” (2 Corinthians 5:21 NCV) “Lord, thank You for forgiving me of my sins. God, I choose healing over holding” Thank you for joining me, I am excited to be part of your journey. Please share this episode and hit subscribe so you don't miss any new episodes.
