Saint Paul's Pod: Graduating Senior Kennedy Horton

We celebrated Senior Sunday with our graduating seniors. One of our amazing high school seniors, Kennedy, preached the sermon. She shared her experiences and finding comfort in Jesus. Congratulations to all graduates.  Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Jesus: The Ultimate Comforter

Death is scary for us all. Jesus spoke as the comforter and encourager. "I am the way, the truth and the life." Jesus says to follow him and not fear. Perfect love casts out fear. and Jesus loves us perfectly. Jesus continues to encourage through compassion and love.

This week we ask ourselves, "what story are we living into?" What God does among us and through us is the story of God redeeming the world. We don't have to defeat the empire. We must tell the story of love, life and hope.      Open the eyes of our heart, Lord. Let us have faith and taste the honey.

Saint Paul's Pod: Faith, The Gamechanger of Life for Living

The 2nd Sunday of Easter Mother Dunn talks faith. Peter’s words about faith show us that sometimes we must have countercultural beliefs. We must face social and moral chaos with faith. Death could not hold Jesus. The resurrection holds up a mirror to remind us that we have been emboldened to exercise our faith We must never allow ourselves to get caught up in the despair of today and lose the brightness of Jesus’s birth, life and resurrection. The end is not yet and believers should remain calm and rely on God. We are change agents through faith, action and prayer. The church is people too. We’ve all been wounded, so we must find community and hope together through faith.

Saint Paul's Pod: The Confusion and Joy of Easter

Run with fear and great joy! Christ is Risen! The first witnesses to the resurrection ran with fear and great joy. The new world came as Jesus defied death and exposed the frailty of the empire.   The world has been redeemed, and the power of those who live by death is empty. Just as Mary and Mary ran with fear and great joy, we must live the same way. There is great need and great conflict, but we can be joyous knowing God’s kingdom will come. Let’s live out our lives with the gifts and exercise our testimonies, remembering our trials and difficulties to build resilience.
