A lifelong Republican from one of the most Republican areas in this country all the way back to the Civil War, Lamar Alexander tells that story five years after leaving the Senate in his new book, “The Education of a Senator: From JFK to Trump” - published by Post Hill Press and distributed by Simon & Schuster. In the book, he writes - quote: “When I ran for the Senate in 2002, I’d said, “I have conservative principles and an independent attitude.” For three terms, I voted that way.” We spoke with Lamar Alexander the day before his visit to Chattanooga for a fireside chat at Chattanooga Rotary with Bob Corker, also a former U.S. Senator from Tennessee and former Mayor of Chattanooga.
