On tonight’s edition of Scottscope Talk Radio, we’ll be interviewing writer, filmmaker, and pop culture analyst/critic David Walker!  David is currently taking the world of mainstream superhero comics by storm, as he is now applying his considerable talents to the DC comics title Cyborg!  He also recently ushered Blaxploitation hero Shaft’s transition onto the comic book page.  What is his ultimate vision for Cyborg?  What would he like to see in a brand new Shaft movie?  Why is he so averse to a comedic take on Harlem’s most relentless private detective?  What does he want to change about the way Black people are represented in mainstream movies and comics?  These topics and more will be discussed on tonight’s show!  Be sure to tune in!

On tonight’s special edition of Scottscope Talk Radio, the roundtable will be discussing one of the most controversial aspects of N.W.A’s legacy: Misogyny.  With the recently revived media furor over not only the groups but Dr. Dre’s history of domestic violence and assault, it is now pertinent to have a serious discussion about a topic that has been tabled for far too long.  Panelist E-Hill will be on hand to offer her many insights on the subject.  Throughout the discussion, a number of lingering and uncomfortable questions will be pondered.  Should Dr. Dre’s assault on Dee Barnes have been included in ‘Straight Outta Compton’?  What does it’s exclusion from the film say about Dr. Dre, N.W.A, and Hip-Hop as a whole?  Is Dr. Dre being unfairly persecuted for past crimes?  Are the film and its subjects being unfairly singled out for perpetuating a societal ill that has long been an integral part of American popular culture?  Are the needs and lives of Black women being ignored so that male rap fans can indulge their ultra-violent anti-hero fantasies without hindrance?  Why is America so hesitant to have this discussion?

On tonight’s edition of Scottscope Talk Radio, the Roundtable reviews Straight Outta Compton!  Is it as good as the hype suggests?  Could it be F. Gary Gray’s best film to date?  Might it be the best Hip-Hop biopic released thus far?  Does it offer the real story of the villains in Black, or a diluted and sanitized version?  Is it more of a hagiopic than a biopic?  Does the direct involvement of Dr. Dre and Ice Cube compromise the integrity of the final product?  Should biopics be expected to tell the undisputed truth about their subjects?  Does the film offer a fair and balanced portrait of Jerry Heller and Marion “Suge” Knight?  Does it properly capture the popular zeitgeist of the late 1980’s and early 1990’s?  Can it be considered a feature length hate latter to police officers nationwide?
