Beskrivelse

"What if there was... another pregnancy?" Amy catches Anne hiding a pregnancy test like she's a teenager sneaking cigarettes, and before you know it, Anne is expecting. George immediately goes into full Law & Order: Vasectomy Unit, insisting the baby can't possibly be his because he had "the procedure." Poor Skippy has barely learned Anne's last name and suddenly he's being treated like the prime suspect on Maury. Meanwhile, Amy is discovering that newborns are less like adorable dolls and more like tiny, screaming dictators. Baby John cries constantly, Amy hasn't slept in approximately seventeen years, and Ben somehow decides this is the perfect time to complain that their relationship isn't progressing fast enough. Read the room, Be. In one of the season's most unexpected twists, Ricky keeps wandering into the house and... being useful? He cooks dinner, calms John down in seconds, and generally behaves like someone who accidentally wandered in from a completely different, much more responsible TV show. Ashley, meanwhile, continues to be the show's greatest detective. Leo introduces his glamorous new girlfriend, and Ashley takes one look before basically saying, "Isn't that the escort Tom hired?" Ashley could solve cold cases if anyone let her. George spends the episode proving that if information exists, he will share it with the worst possible person at the worst possible moment. Skippy learns Anne is pregnant thanks to George's inability to mind his own business, immediately panics, and copes by drinking enough to make every decision dramatically worse. Over on Team Teen Drama, Grace is convinced she's making a mature adult decision, Adrian is convinced she's making a terrible mistake, and Ricky somehow finds himself giving one of the episode's most emotionally honest speeches—this time ripping into Ruben for abandoning Adrian years ago. It's always jarring when Ricky briefly becomes the wisest person in the room. Ben and Ricky continue their eternal rivalry, except now it's less "Who gets Amy?" and more "Who can financially support a baby?" It's basically The Apprentice: Teen Dad Edition. Just when you think the episode is wrapping up with the usual mix of jealousy, awkward family dinners, and George Juergens creating fresh chaos... ...the show drops an absolute bomb. Sexy Christain Dad... Rob's favorite smug, hairy chested, BABE of the CENTURY who I would convert to any religion for ... DIES in a plane crash. This is a dark, dark day in for this podcast. Please hold Rob in your thoughts.

S01E023 And Unto Us, A Child Is Born

WE MADE IT!!! It's the last episode of Season 1!! We did it! Woo woo! After an entire season of speeches about abstinence, pregnancy, adoption, putting the baby in Mimsie's drawer, love triangles, fake marriages, fake IDs, and approximately 14 million conversations in the school hallway, the moment finally arrives: Amy goes into labor. Suddenly every single person she's ever spoken to appears at the hospital, because apparently Grant Memorial Hospital has no visitor limits and absolutely no privacy policy. Thank you for the sweet Best Western Conference Centre Labour and Delivery Suite, a la Sausage King. Ben and Ricky, having spent the season competing over Amy like she's the last Xbox on Black Friday, decide to call a temporary truce. They agree to be civil for the baby's sake. Meanwhile, Adrian arrives to support Ricky, only for Grace to casually announce she's getting back together with Jack. Ricky's love life officially flatlines. Dun dun dunnnn After what feels like three feature films' worth of labor, Amy finally gives birth to a healthy baby boy: John. Everyone takes turns holding the baby and immediately starts acting like parenthood is beautiful, magical, and completely manageable. Cut to approximately five minutes later... Amy gets home and discovers that newborns don't care if you're the main character. She's exhausted. She's overwhelmed. Meanwhile, Ricky visits John and, in one of the biggest surprises of the season, realizes he actually likes being a dad. Time for Good Guy Eyes in overdrive. And just when you think the drama is winding down, George and Ashley reveal they've moved out, leaving Anne standing in the family home wondering how her entire life changed in the space of one pregnancy. Sigh, and in all honesty, I am SAVORING this season because, in early Season 2, someone will die... DUN DUN DUN. Rob will be seen in a room crying. Hopefully that will entice you to keep listening and keep watching Secret Life.
