5. God Is Not The God of the Dead, But the God of the Living (Mark 12:18-27)

1. What Is the True Faith? (Mark 11:12-14, 11:19-24)

When we look at today’s Scripture passage in the Gospel of Mark, we can see that our Lord went to many places in the vicinity of Jerusalem with His disciples preaching and performing wondrous works, and in the evening the Lord became hungry and looked around to see if there was anything to eat. At that time, He saw from a distance a fig tree full of leaves. Jesus went to this fig tree to see if there was any fruit on the tree, but the tree had no fruit. 2. Live by Faith to Please God (Mark 11:11-14, Mark 11:20-24)

It’s written here in today’s Scripture passage: “Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter, remembering, said to Him, ‘Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.’ So Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them’” (Mark 11:20-24). As this passage says, God wants you to have faith in Him. 3. Are We Really Walking By Our Faith in God’s Righteousness? (Mark 11:20-24)

Today I would like to speak to you about how you ought to live out your faith as someone who believes in the gospel of the water and the Spirit. Let me first begin by raising a couple of questions first. What trials and tribulations do we face in our lives? Is it really impossible to overcome these trials unless we have faith in the righteousness of God? I raise these questions first because it is most crucial for all of us to live by our faith in God. It should be our heartfelt desire to live the rest of our lives by placing our faith in God’s righteousness, and to serve this righteousness by faith. Otherwise everything we do will be completely meaningless, no matter how virtuous our deeds may be. 4. The Resurrected Jesus Is the God of All Who Have Received The Remission of Sins (Mark 12:18-27)

Warm greetings to you all! Today is Easter Sunday. We observe Easter Sunday to remember the resurrection of Jesus. As we believe in the righteousness of Jesus, we have no doubt in His resurrection at all. Our Lord has indeed arisen from the dead. However, some people do doubt Jesus’ resurrection, saying in their own human thinking that they just can’t believe how it’s possible for anyone dead to be brought back to life again. 5. God Is Not The God of the Dead, But the God of the Living (Mark 12:18-27)

The Sadducees do not believe in the resurrection. As it is written in Mark 12:18-23, some of the Sadducees came to Jesus to test Him with a complicated question. But this is not the focus of today’s sermon. Let’s go down a bit and read verses 26 and 27: “But concerning the dead, that they rise, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the burning bush passage, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living.
