She Speaks with Shara
In this episode, I'm joined by my best friend, Mary, for a conversation about the often-overlooked role of the support person in the aftermath of trauma. While much of the focus naturally falls on the person experiencing the crisis, those who step in to provide emotional support can carry a significant burden of their own. Together, we discuss what it was like for Mary to walk alongside me during one of the most traumatic periods of my life, the emotional toll of holding space for someone you love, and the reality of compassion fatigue. This conversation shines a light on the people who answer the phone, listen without judgment, sit through the hard moments, and continue showing up—even when it's difficult. Because healing doesn't just impact the survivor. It also impacts the people who help carry them through it. If you enjoy the content, please like, subscribe and leave a comment.
