Speaking with Cade was super soothing and re-affirming - we touched on a fair few topics (Meditation, Yoga, eating well and making life changes) and I also gave a small spiel at the beginning to just update people on what’s been happening SOMA and personal life wise. We also touched on relationship mirrors and working through conflict with partners, as well as learning how embodying different energies can benefit us and help us grow. Ep.4 – Communicating with Plants, Connections and Unlearning with Mari Beth Helen.

In this episode we speak with Mari Beth on urban plant and gardening communities, healing with plants and plant recognition, grounding into stability, communicating with plants and receiving messages through plants as well as harvesting plants for use and harvest awareness. We also talk about how human constructs like time, seasons etc. impact not only the plants but our (human) perception and outlook. A lot of Maribeth’s work originates from her innate and teeming curiosity, and a desire to become intentional/purposeful with her life journey.

Ep.3 – Jacquelyn Ogorchukwu on UX Design, BIPOC Experiences & Systemic Oppression.

Jacquelyn and I oscillated between speaking from personal and factual experience about sensitive topics, aiming to be as true to self and community as possible. In this episode Jacquelyn discusses systemic racism and oppression and weaves in the landscape of her life throughout. She also touches on her love for UX Design and creating spaces for BIPOC folx to share, heal and be seen digitally. Jacquelyn's rigorous knowledge and curiosity for social scopes is both admirable and comforting, and I felt particularly comfortable sharing a bit about my own experience as a trans/queer/POC living in Australia.

Welcome to episode two of SOMA podcast - this space aims to find settlement and explore environmental integration in order to then aid us in creating more aligned physical and subconscious spaces. Speaking with Georgia Spain served as a great reminder that investing in your art is worthwhile and that inspiration is as important as the act of creation itself. What we see and soak up is then somatically integrated into our subconscious, moving through and then appearing in our work. We also touch on how space and social media affect workflow, and how Georgia’s recent move to Tasmania and building her own home has and will impact her work. A lot of food for thought.

Welcome to SOMA Podcast. This space aims to find settlement and explore environmental integration in order to then aid us in creating more aligned physical and subconscious spaces. In this episode I chat with Maile Shanti - yoga and mindful practice teacher, editing director of Accidental Discharge and host of a morning meditation group amongst many other brilliant projects and work. We go deep into healing trauma through somatic techniques, breath work, shifting back into self after periods of disembodiment and the intersects of spirituality and politics amongst many other topics. Speaking with Maile was deeply invigorating and I hope that others will feel the beautiful and honest passion she has to heal her communities.
