Beskrivelse

The complexities that come with growth are many, and it can be hard to discern what to handle and how to handle it. Acts 6 teaches us how to move from comfort to mission in a way that creates and demonstrates mutual expectation. episode The Most Dangerous Kind of Faith cover

The Most Dangerous Kind of Faith

What if the greatest danger isn't rejecting Jesus... but believing you're following Him when you're not? In Acts 8, we're introduced to two men who appear to have faith. Both witness God's power. Both respond to the gospel. But only one experiences genuine transformation. In this message, we wrestle with one of the most sobering questions every believer should ask: Do I want God... or do I just want what He can do for me? It's possible to love God's gifts more than God Himself. We can seek His forgiveness, His blessings, His provision, or His protection while never truly surrendering our lives to Him. Simon the magician wanted God's power for his own gain. Philip simply wanted God to use him. That raises a question every one of us must answer: Am I allowing God to use me, or am I trying to use God for my own purposes? Too often, we've reduced following Jesus to a formula: Pray a prayer. Get baptized. Go to church. Serve. Give. Know the right answers. But Jesus never said those things were the evidence of genuine faith. He said the evidence would be a transformed life marked by surrender, obedience, and lasting fruit. This message isn't meant to scare you—it's meant to wake you up. Not so you'll live in fear, but so you'll honestly examine whether your faith is centered on Jesus or on what you hope to gain from Him. Whether you've followed Christ for years or you're still exploring faith, our prayer is that this message moves you beyond cultural Christianity and into a genuine relationship with Jesus. episode You Want to Be Like Jesus... But Do You Really? cover

You Want to Be Like Jesus... But Do You Really?

Most Christians want to be more like Jesus—but what if becoming like Him means more than being kind, patient, and loving? In Acts 6–7, Stephen becomes the first Christian martyr, and the more his story unfolds, the more he looks like Jesus. He faces false accusations, rejection, suffering, and ultimately death—all while reflecting Christ's character and extending forgiveness to his enemies. This message challenges a difficult question: Do we really want to look like Jesus...or just the parts of Jesus that are comfortable? If following Christ begins to cost us our comfort, reputation, relationships, dreams, or security, will we still say yes? In this sermon, you'll discover: Why Stephen's life mirrors Jesus in remarkable ways The difference between genuine discipleship and comfortable religion Why sacrifice reveals what we truly believe What it really means to take up your cross and follow Christ How God often does His greatest work through surrendered lives Following Jesus has never been about playing it safe. The invitation has always been the same: Come and die so you can truly live.
