Her work utilizes naturalistic speech-language samples as one means of analyzing and understanding subtle changes to communication. Dr. Mueller is also interested in the design and testing of identification methods of early cognitive change in the presence of AD biomarkers, and multimodal therapeutic interventions to address cognitive-communication difficulties in MCI and dementia due to neurodegenerative disease. Speech Path Pod Ep. 22: Living with spasmodic dysphonia - A conversation with Sue Payne

Send us a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2129797/open_sms] Thanks for tuning into this episode of the Speech Path Pod!  In this episode, I spoke with Sue Payne - an individual living with spasmodic dysphonia - about her experience getting diagnosed and now living with SD.  Provided by Sue on her involvement with Dysphonia International:   "Dysphonia International has been a lifeline for me since I have been diagnosed with Spasmodic Dysphonia. Being involved in Walk For Talk since 2020 has given me the opportunity to work with many across the country with SD. The most common attribute of these people is their genuine caring nature and support that they give to every person. It is an honor to serve with them and beside them on the various committees." https://dysphonia.org/

Speech Path Pod Ep. 19: Muscle Tension Dysphonia with Margaret Stoddart

Send us a text [https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2129797/open_sms] Welcome back to another episode of the Speech Path Pod! In this episode, I talk with Margaret Stoddart about her experience living with muscle tension dysphonia (MTD).  Margaret is a a Registered Nurse, working in Cardiology Catheter Labs as the Coordinator.  She run 5 Labs  and spends most of her day talking to Consultants, Colleagues, Patients and Wards.  She first noticed a change in her voice around 5 years ago (2018). Initially her voice just started to break and become unreliable, it gradually got worse and became even more unreliable and even giving up on me sometimes.  Margaret is desperately trying to raise awareness of voice disorders in the UK  as she reports it appears that not enough people in her country know about MTD and other debilitating  voice conditions. Margaret joined the North Carolina Dysphonia International virtual support group several years ago and is now the area contact lead for the UK.
