Stars of Sacrifice: WWII
On Christmas Day, December 25, 1944, Lt Dean Paul Trigonides, the son of Greek immigrants prepared for yet another combat mission. While families at home gathered around Christmas trees and holiday tables, airmen in France climbed into their aircraft to continue the fight. Lt. Trigonides boarded B-26 Marauder number 43-34318. The aircraft never made it to its target. More than 421,000 Americans lost their lives during World War II — but they were never just numbers. They were sons and daughters, husbands and wives, brothers, sisters, friends, and neighbors… each one the center of someone’s world. Behind every name is a story, and behind every loss, a family forever marked by a gold star. This podcast exists to tell those stories — to remember who they were, how they lived, and what they sacrificed. Because when we preserve their memories and honor their service, we ensure that the true cost of freedom is never forgotten.
