Surf Report for Miami Florida
Good morning, this is your Thursday surf zone forecast for South Florida beaches brought to you by the National Weather Service in Miami. Let's start up north in Palm Beach where conditions are looking pretty good for getting in the water today. We're expecting surf heights around two feet with a moderate rip current risk, so definitely be aware if you're heading out. The water's a comfortable mid-eighties, and while it'll be mostly sunny, there's a slight chance of showers. High temperatures will reach the upper eighties with light east winds at five to ten miles per hour. Sunrise is at six twenty-six this morning and sunset at eight fourteen tonight. Just keep in mind that the UV index is extreme, so sunscreen is absolutely non-negotiable today. Moving down to Fort Lauderdale and the Broward beaches, conditions are a bit calmer with low rip current risk and smaller one to two foot surf. It'll be partly sunny with a slight chance of showers, and again, upper eighties for the high. East winds five to ten miles per hour. The UV index here is also extreme, so protect that skin. Over in Miami-Dade, similar story with low rip current risk and one to two foot waves. Partly sunny skies, slight chance of showers, upper eighties, and those same east winds. The UV index is extreme here as well. Now heading down to the Naples and Marco Island area, we've got low rip current risk and minimal surf at one foot or less. But here's where things get interesting, folks. There's a moderate thunderstorm potential today, so keep an eye on the sky. The heat index could reach up to one hundred three degrees, so stay hydrated. Light east winds becoming southerly in the afternoon. Looking ahead to Friday, the pattern continues but with some refinement. Palm Beach sees the rip current risk dropping to low with one to two foot surf, though thunderstorm potential kicks up to moderate. Broward and Miami-Dade both show one foot or less surf with low rip current risk and low thunderstorm potential. Over in Naples, we're still looking at one foot or less surf with moderate thunderstorm potential and heat indices up to one hundred three. Across all beaches Friday, expect mostly sunny skies with a slight to moderate chance of showers and thunderstorms depending on your location. Highs remain in the upper eighties. The UV index stays extreme everywhere, so keep that sunscreen handy. Bottom line: today's looking pretty decent for a beach day if you don't mind those thunderstorm chances down in Southwest Florida. Just watch for rip currents in Palm Beach, respect the heat, and slather on that sunscreen because the UV is cranked up across the board. Friday shapes up similarly with smaller surf and continued storm chances. Stay safe out there, and enjoy the water responsibly.
