Surf Report for Miami Florida
Good morning, this is your Wednesday, June 17th surf zone forecast for South Florida. If you're thinking about heading to the beach today, here's what Mother Nature has in store. Conditions are looking pretty mellow across the board, with surf heights sitting at just one foot or less for most of our Atlantic-facing beaches. The water temperature is absolutely beautiful, ranging from the mid-eighties up in Palm Beach to the upper eighties down in Broward and Miami-Dade. So at least you won't need a wetsuit. Speaking of the heat, we've got an extreme UV index today, so sunscreen is absolutely non-negotiable. Highs are expected in the lower nineties, but with humidity factored in, heat indices are climbing up to around 107 degrees. Down in Naples and Marco Island on the Gulf side, we're looking at heat indices pushing 109. This is serious heat, folks, so stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade. Rip current risk remains low across all our beaches, though remember that life-threatening rip currents can still form near groins, jetties, reefs, and piers even when risk levels are low. Now here's where things get interesting depending on where you're headed. Up in Palm Beach, there's a moderate thunderstorm potential today, with a chance of showers and some lightning possible throughout the day. Down in Broward and Miami-Dade, thunderstorm chances drop to low, with only a slight chance of showers. And if you're planning to hit Naples or Marco Island on the Gulf side, you're looking at no thunderstorm potential at all, just pure sunshine. Winds today will be light, coming from the south at five to ten miles per hour across the Atlantic side, with a bit more influence in Naples where we'll see southeast winds around five in the morning, then increasing to south around fifteen in the afternoon. Thursday is shaping up to be even nicer. The thunderstorm potential disappears entirely across all our beaches, giving us mostly sunny to sunny skies. Surf heights remain one foot or less, rip current risk stays low, and winds will be light southeast to south, five to fifteen miles per hour depending on location. High temperatures will be in the lower nineties, with heat indices pushing even higher than today, reaching up to 111 down in Naples. So whether you're planning a morning swim, an afternoon beach walk, or just soaking up some rays, just remember to protect yourself from that intense sun and watch out for that oppressive heat. It's going to be a hot couple of days out there, but at least the water is beautiful and the waves are manageable. Stay safe and have a great day at the beach.
