This weekly broadcast examines current events from across the globe to learn what's happening in all areas of people activity. We cultivate Counter-Racist Media Literacy by scrutinizing journalists' word choices and using logic to deconstruct what is reported as "news." We’ll use these sessions to hone our use of terms as tools to reveal truth, neutralize Racists/White people. #ANTIBLACKNESS After hand-wringing and plumes of niggardly, black smoke to indicate disagreement over the next Catholic pope, a cloud of White, fair, innocent smoke was released to recognize Pope Leo XIV as the first US pontiff. There was a brief thought that we may get the first black African pope. #Nope Speaking of negro firsts, the New York Times notes Dr. Carla D. Hayden is "the first African American and the first woman to serve as the head of the Library of Congress." She was terminated this week with two sentences: “On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to inform you that your position as the Librarian of Congress is terminated effective immediately,” the email said, without citing a cause. “Thank you for your service.” #TripleT We also recognize the 40 years since the 1985 bombing of the MOVE residence in Philadelphia - which resulted in 11 people killed, 5 of them children. The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the 8th and final study session on Abraham Bolden's The Echo From Dealey Plaza. After tens of thousands of pages of classified documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy were released earlier this month, a House committee is now working to release thousands more pages on the assassinations of Robert F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. All of these murders are connected - sometimes involving the same Suspected Racists. Last week, Mr. Bolden detailed being shackled in front of his wife Barbara and his offspring. He was taken to greater confinement and relocated to other incarceral facilities without warning. He's eventually moved to a psychiatric ward where he's presumed to be a little "crazy." Bolden saw another inmate killed and was confronted by a black inmate brandishing a butcher knife named "Kenny." Following his confrontation with this blade-wielding inmate, Bolden is admonished by his black counselors for being paranoid and not knowing when to keep quiet. Bolden castigates these black males - and even engages in some name-calling. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly summit on Neutralizing Workplace Racism 05/08/25. Gus T. suspects this so-called Mother's Day holiday might be different with so many people still anxious about their prospects for remaining employed this year. We'll review news reports from this week that detail IBM bragging about swapping out human employees for AI and a New York Times piece that discussed bosses requesting to have a sleepover with their employees. Given all that we've learned about Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein, Gus vigorously opposes slumber parties with co-workers - White or non-white. Importantly, one of the suggestions for a boss encroaching on your personal space and or home life, is to just say no. Under the System of White Supremacy, non-white people are often encouraged to say yes to anything White people say. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Nateya Taylor. A Milwaukee native with a passion for black liberation, Taylor is classified as a black female and the founder of Naesthetycs LLC. She snared a Master of Science degree with a focus on the health and the history of Racism in Wisconsin. “Nateya specializes in archival research and her research interests are centered around residential segregation, Black resistance, Black geographies, Black autonomy, and the Black Power Movement.” Gus discovered Taylor’s brand new film, Something in the Water, which is screening at the 2025 Milwaukee Film Festival. While Gus is preparing to visit Wisconsin to cover the Sade Robinson murder trial later this month, he’s been inundated with reports about Milwaukee’s public school lead poisoning crisis. Numerous schools have been closed and disrupted because of the ongoing lead contamination.
