The Fresh Ideas Show
Nick Chambers, head of global market development at Danish company 4XRobots, tells the Fresh Ideas Show that the fresh produce business has now reached a tipping point when it comes to robotics. Why? Well. as he explains, in the face of rising costs and an increasing lack of available labour, the need for greater efficiency and sustainability has grown considerably – and especially in areas where maintaining sufficient local supply of fresh fruit and vegetables is a priority. To help suppliers meet that challenge, 4XRobots has developed a new line of so-called ‘collaborative’ robots that can operate safely alongside human workers on packing lines without the need for safety fencing, which can add to the expense.
