After the death of Henry II, the electors of Germany turned to the soon-to-be-referred-to-as Salians to fix the crises of the Empire. Though the dynasty would start out strong, they would soon get caught up in the middle of the Catholic Reform movement of the mid-11th century. Intrigue, betrayal and civil war abound! HRE Episode 2- The Ottonians

It's back to business this week, as we continue our story with the Ottonians. Under the leadership of Otto the Great, the Empire was re-reestablished in the west. After Otto's death, however his dynasty would flounder and eventually die out. HRE Episode 1.5- Mr Liudprand Goes to Constantinople

This episode serves as a bridge between the Carolingians and the Ottonians. In it, I weave the story of the emperor's favorite fail-son adviser taking his ill-fated trip to the Byzantine capitol and getting dunked on by the emperor the whole time. Great fun was had by all! No webpage for this one.
