Beskrivelse

Here’s your invitation for this week: Sometime in the next 24 hours, give yourself a brain dump session. Set a timer. Let it out. Look at what’s there. And notice how you feel afterward. You might even make this a weekly habit—your Monday morning reset or your Friday evening wind-down. However it works for you, know this: You’re allowed to put things down. You’re allowed to take care of your mind. And journaling—even in messy, scribbled brain dumps—is a powerful way to do that. For Summer Coaching Details: Grab a coffee chat spot with Kendall! Episode 86: Marriage Series - Small is Where It Starts

Welcome back to The Journaling Room. I'm Kendall — and we made it. This is Episode 3, the final episode of our marriage series, and I have to say — I am so proud of you for staying with this. We have covered a lot of ground together. In Episode 1, We Chose to Stay, I told you my own story — the year our marriage almost ended, what didn't help, what finally did, and why I believe with everything in me that your marriage is worth fighting for. In Episode 2, Fire Yourself From the Job, we talked about the one thing you actually have control over in your marriage — and it isn't your husband. It's your thoughts. It's how you show up. It's choosing, every single day, to operate from your true self instead of your fear. And today — today we get practical. Because here's what I know about lasting change: it doesn't usually start with a dramatic overhaul. It starts with something small. Something so small it almost feels too simple to matter. And then you do it again the next day. And the day after that. And slowly, quietly, something begins to shift. This is Episode 3: Small Is Where It Starts. JOURNALING PROMPTS 1. Of the three small actions — the smile, the text, the question — which one feels most available to me right now? What is one specific way I will practice it this week? 2. What has this marriage series stirred up in me? What feeling has been sitting just underneath the surface that I haven't fully acknowledged yet? 3. When I picture my marriage five years from now — ten years from now — what do I want it to look like? What would need to be true for that vision to become real? 4. What is one legacy I want my marriage to leave for my children or grandchildren? What am I already doing that reflects that legacy? What needs to change? 5. What is the one thought about my husband I want to practice this week — not because he's earned it, but because I'm choosing it? 6. Where have I been waiting for the big breakthrough instead of honoring the small moment? What small moment is available to me today? 7. If the woman I am becoming — my truest, most grounded self — looked at my marriage today, what would she say? What would she do first? Episode 85: Marriage Series - Fire Yourself from the Job

In Episode 1 of the Marriage Series — We Chose to Stay — I shared something really personal. I told you about 2007, about how close Nate and I came to the end, about what didn't work and what finally did. And I told you that your marriage is worth fighting for. If you haven't listened to that episode yet, go back and start there. This series builds on itself, and I don't want you to miss it. But today — today we're going to talk about the part that nobody really wants to hear. The part that is also, I promise you, the most freeing thing I have ever learned about marriage. Here it is: You cannot change your husband. You never could. And the sooner you fire yourself from that job, the sooner your marriage actually has a chance. This is Episode 2: Fire Yourself From the Job. JOURNALING PROMPTS 1. What is one thought I have about my husband on a regular basis? Is it a fact or an interpretation? What might be another way to see it? 2. Where have I been trying to change, manage, or fix my husband? What has that behavior actually cost me — and our marriage? 3. What does it mean to be 100% responsible for how I show up — not as a burden, but as an act of freedom? What would that look like for me this week? 4. Where am I operating from my false self in my marriage? What fear is underneath that behavior? 5. What would my true self — grounded, secure, loved by God — do differently in my marriage today? 6. What is one thought I could practice this week that would help me feel more connected to my husband — not because he changed, but because I chose it? 7. If I fully believed that how I show up is within my control, what is one thing I would do differently starting tomorrow? For Summer Coaching Details: Grab a coffee chat spot with Kendall! Episode 84: Marriage Series - We Chose to Stay

If you've been around for a while, you know this is a space where we get honest. We don't do surface level here. We talk about what's actually happening in our hearts — and today, that means we're going somewhere that feels a little tender for a lot of us. We are kicking off a brand-new three-part series on marriage. And I want to start by telling you something important: this series is not for perfect marriages. It's not for people who have it all figured out. This series is for the real ones — the messy ones, the quiet-and-disconnected ones, the ones where you've wondered if you made the right choice, where you've felt more like roommates than partners, or where you've done real damage and aren't sure if there's a way back. This series is for you. Journaling Prompts: 1. What is one word that honestly describes how I feel about my marriage right now? What thought is creating that feeling? 2. Where have I been waiting for my spouse to change, instead of looking at what I can change in myself? 3. What would it mean for me if I truly believed my marriage was worth fighting for? What would I do differently tomorrow? 4. Have I been evading my real feelings — saying the right things, performing okayness — without actually processing what's going on inside me? 5. When I picture the legacy I want to leave for my children or grandchildren, what role does my marriage play in that picture? 6. Is there one moment in my marriage — even a small one — where I felt genuine connection? What was happening in that moment? 7. What is one thing I am grateful for about my spouse today, even if it feels hard to find? For Summer Coaching Details: Grab a coffee chat spot with Kendall! Episode 82: An Honest Conversation about Becoming a Mom with Claire Shields

Today’s episode feels especially tender and meaningful because I’m sitting down with my daughter Claire Shields to talk about becoming a new mom. And honestly… I don’t think we talk enough about the inner transformation that happens in motherhood. Not just the diapers and sleep deprivation — but the becoming. The stretching. The refining. The joy and hard that can coexist at the same time. I think so many women listening will see themselves in parts of this conversation whether you’re currently raising babies, have grown children, are longing to become a mother, or are simply in a season where God is reshaping you through caregiving and responsibility.
