FOMO, the fear of missing out, is not a modern invention. It goes all the way back to the Garden of Eden, where the serpent convinced Eve to focus on the one thing she did not have rather than everything God had already given her. That same restless pattern shows up throughout Scripture, from the Israelites complaining in the wilderness to Martha missing time with Jesus because she was too busy serving Him. The antidote is not more striving but more trust. JOMO, the joy of missing out, is the settled confidence that you are where God wants you to be and that you are not missing what He wants you to have. God is good when He says yes, and He is still good when He says no. If you have Him, you have the one thing this world can never give and circumstances can never take away.

It begins the moment we take our eyes off Jesus and fix them on someone else, and it always produces one of two responses: envy or pride. Both distort our identity, diminish our gratitude, and derail the unique race God has set before us. Just as Jesus reminded Peter, God's plan for someone else is not our concern. We are each called to faithfully run the race marked out for us. The antidote to comparison is not self-improvement but fixing our eyes on Christ. Gratitude and intentional celebration of others are two of the most powerful ways to break comparison's grip. God is far too good an author to ask you to live someone else's story.

Every believer has also been given a spiritual gift, and withholding it affects not just ourselves but everyone around us who needed what only we could offer. No matter what season you are in, God has a plan for your future and a hope that does not fade. The choice before us each day is simple but serious: who will you follow?

The New Testament is filled with commands that cannot be obeyed alone, reminding us that Christianity is not just something we believe but something we live together. Whether you need to find your people, become a better community member, or make more room at the table, the call is the same. Take one step toward someone this week.

What a father models, a child often multiplies, and that includes both the blessings and the wounds. Even when a father is absent, God does not leave a gap unfilled. He steps in as the ultimate Father, giving identity before assignment and love before performance. The goal is not perfection but faithfulness. Faithfulness to God, to family, and to the calling entrusted to us. We are not called to be generational repeats. We are called to be generational turning points.
