Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2359063/fan_mail/new] What if the “dash” between your birth and death dates is where your real purpose lives—and you’re sleepwalking through it? In this raw, solo episode, I open up about an intense week of hospital visits, a client’s passing, and the emotional weight of being a caregiver and empath when your superpower starts to feel like kryptonite.  I share a sleepless-night journey into TikTok Live—a wild digital bazaar of creators, healers, and musicians—where a chance connection with Brazilian fans of a band I’d just interviewed reminded me that music, love, and even death are universal threads that bind us.  If you’ve been feeling drained, disconnected, or rushed through life, this conversation will convince you to slow down, reconnect, and be the person you want to meet—starting today. https://linktr.ee/richardpcraft [https://linktr.ee/richardpcraft] Support the show [https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/RichardPCraft]

🎙️ Turning 50, Letting Go & Saying Yes to What Matters Most

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2359063/fan_mail/new] I'm turning 50. And while some people see that as getting older, I'm starting to see it differently. In this episode of The Men of the House Podcast, I reflect on what it means to reach this milestone and the perspective that comes with it. Like most people, I've spent time wondering how life might have turned out if I had made different choices, taken different jobs, moved to different places, or followed different paths. The truth is, none of us really know. Maybe the path we're on is exactly where we're supposed to be. Maybe the universe, God, fate, or whatever you choose to call it has been guiding us all along. As I approach 50, I'm reminded that if I live to the average lifespan, I may already be two-thirds of the way through this journey. If I make it to 100, maybe I'm only halfway there. Either way, one thing has become crystal clear: Life is too short to spend it worrying about what other people think. This conversation also builds on something I've been reflecting on lately—the importance of slowing down and being present. We're constantly chasing the next goal, the next opportunity, the next version of ourselves. But what if the best years of our lives aren't somewhere in the future? What if they're happening right now? In this episode, I share: * My honest thoughts about turning 50 * Why we often romanticize the lives we didn't live * The freedom that comes from caring less about outside opinions * Why being present matters more than ever * How perspective changes as we age * Learning to say "yes" to joy and "no" to everything else * Why time may be our most valuable asset The older I get, the less interested I am in impressing people and the more interested I am in experiencing life. Traveling. Creating. Connecting. Laughing. Being present with the people I love. And saying yes to the things that genuinely bring me joy. Because none of us know how much time we have left. But we do get to decide how we spend the time we have. 🎧 In This Episode: ✅ Reflections on turning 50 ✅ The life you imagine vs. the life you live ✅ Presence, gratitude, and perspective ✅ Letting go of other people's expectations ✅ Why saying "no" is a form of self-respect ✅ Choosing joy over approval ✅ Living intentionally in the second half of life 🎧 The Men of the House Podcast explores the unfiltered truths of fatherhood, mental health, self-care, relationships, purpose, and navigating the chaos of everyday life. 🔗 Follow & Listen: https://linktr.ee/richardpcraft Support the show [https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/RichardPCraft]

episode 🎙️ Unfiltered Friday: Being Present in a World Obsessed with What's Next cover

🎙️ Unfiltered Friday: Being Present in a World Obsessed with What's Next

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2359063/fan_mail/new] What if the best view isn't at the next level? What if it's right where you're standing today? In this week's Unfiltered Friday, I dive into something that's been on my mind all week: presence. We live in a culture that constantly tells us to chase the next promotion, the next opportunity, the next achievement, the next level. We're conditioned to believe happiness is waiting somewhere in the future, just beyond our current circumstances. But in our pursuit of "what's next," how often do we miss what's right in front of us? As I've been studying to become an End-of-Life Doula, I've heard a phrase that continues to resonate deeply with me: > "Being present is the highest form of authenticity." It's one of the reasons I'm so drawn to this work. At the end of life, there are no shortcuts, no distractions, and no pretending. Presence is the gift. The same was true during my years working in a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department. When lives hang in the balance, you can't be thinking about tomorrow. You must be completely present because every second matters. I also explore the connection between presence and flow state—those moments when you're so immersed in what you're doing that time seems to disappear. Whether it's meaningful work, a conversation, a hobby, or intimacy with someone you love, the magic happens when you're fully there. This week also brought an unexpected reminder. I started driving Uber passengers again and had the privilege of spending time with an 83-year-old grandmother. The ride itself wasn't remarkable. The connection was. Simply slowing down, listening, and being present with another human being became one of the highlights of my entire week. In a world filled with distractions, notifications, and endless striving, maybe the most radical thing we can do is simply be here. Because connection requires presence. Authenticity requires presence. Love requires presence. Life requires presence. In This Episode: ✅ Why we're conditioned to constantly chase the next level ✅ The hidden cost of never slowing down ✅ What trauma care taught me about being fully present ✅ How End-of-Life Doula work is rooted in authentic presence ✅ The connection between presence, flow state, and intimacy ✅ An unexpected lesson from an 83-year-old Uber passenger ✅ Why the best view in life might be exactly where you are If you've been feeling distracted, overwhelmed, or constantly focused on what's next, this episode is for you. Take a breath. Slow down. And join me for a conversation about the power of being present. 🎧 The Men of the House Podcast explores the unfiltered truths of fatherhood, self-care, mental health, purpose, relationships, and navigating the chaos of everyday life. 🔗 Follow & Listen: https://linktr.ee/richardpcraft Support the show [https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/RichardPCraft]
