In this week's episode, we have a conversation with Irene Khumalo who is the director of ADAPT - (Agisanang Domestic Abuse Prevention and Training) a grass-roots anti-GBV organization based in Alexandra. Their unique approach aims to involve men in creating solutions and reducing the high levels of violence against women and children in Alexandra Township,  as they are able to identify it is not solely a women's problem.  ''ADAPT is committed to changing social values and structural factors that perpetuate violence against women by promoting a spirit of interdependence, mutual and co-existence between women and men.''  - (from the site preventgbvafrica.org) They run a Men's Programme counseling and support services for men, both individual and couples therapy group therapy for abusive men and prisoners convicted of rape and other violent crimes. Gender sensitivity training for men is targeted as well.
