Eldred native and 1973 Otto-Eldred graduate Jim Pransky was a baseball scout for 25 years with six different MLB teams along with being a college coach at St. Bonaventure, George Washington and Quincy Ill. He wrote a book recently on his experiences titled "Baseball's Test of Spirit: A Man's Unlikely Odyssey into the Scouting World." Spring sports update: Ty Carrier, Evie Bliss, PIAA track and Field, baseball and softball

From the college ranks, it's Westminster's Ty Carrier in baseball and Bucknell's Evie Bliss qualifying for the NCAA Division I Championships in the javelin for the third time.
