The Stories That Sparkle
Megan Klein is the founder Little Saints [https://littlesaints.com]—a beverage company that is focused exclusively on zero-sugar, non-alcoholic cocktails and spirits fueled by functional mushrooms. Megan started this company because she had a need and she continues to build it because others have the same need. Meeting in New York for the first time in person (she lives in Miami and I live in Virginia), Megan and I recorded this conversation in April inside of a conference room within Industrious [https://www.industriousoffice.com] (it was supposed to be my first ever in person video pod but alas, technology and user-error thwarted that part). We cover the highs and lows of being a solo woman founder, the importance of having a clear “why,” and the challenges of making ends meet while building something from scratch. Spoiler alert: like me, Megan has a roommate (her bestie) which turns out to be a founder hack (totally stealing that one). Megan also shares honestly about the dark night of the soul of a founder and how being of service to others is the fuel that helps her keep going. (Megan appeared last year on the season opener of Shark Tank, and, along with Little Saints, has been featured in a wide-range of publications). I was an early investor in Little Saints because I believed in Megan before I believed in myself. Since then, I have watched her grow this company into a huge success. In the moments when I’m ready to quit or give up, I look to Megan and get re-inspired by her example to keep going. Could not think of a better guest to join me for the third installment of the 4-part series “Becoming the Proof” [https://hellarader.substack.com/t/becoming-the-proof]—four women who built the thing they needed to ensure it exists for others when they need it.
