But the dream quickly soured. Moving his followers across remote pockets of Central and South America, Bishop transitioned from a fatherly spiritual guide into a textbook cult leader.

Tucked inside a rolled-up wrestling mat in the "old gym" were the remains of 17-year-old Kendrick Johnson. While investigators were quick to label his death a tragic accident—claiming he became stuck while reaching for a shoe—the evidence tells a far more complicated story.
