Language of Behavior: Regulating Dysregulated Neurodivergent Minds

Kristina, is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Independent Facilitator in the Self-Determination Program in California, and a coach who specializes in Neurodiversity. She explains to Jo, in the study of the Neurodivergent there are differences,  not deficits. And that Behaviors are a language. A way to communicate when NeuroDiverse individuals lack the communication tools of the NeuroTypical. Kristina explains how as a community, we must learn to step back, not react, but assess situations, and all the variables that may be related environmentally, emotionally, mentally and physically when inappropriate and sometime disturbing behaviors present themselves. And if we can step back, assess and recognize it is a language, we  will be able to better communicate with the neurodiverse and create a safer community. Discovering Self Determination When Aging Out of Adult Transition

Sheryl introduces the Self Determination Program to Jo. Jo’s son is aging out of the Adult Transition Program at the community public high school. Sheryl helps Jo learn how SDP can help her son level up by creating a schedule of daily activities and goal work with day programs or specialized programs and classes from a variety of venders working with Regional Center and the Self Determination Program.
